Our Autism Therapy Services Research Division is exploring something groundbreaking — using robots to help train new behavior technicians (BTs)!

Behavior technicians are professionals who work with children on the autism spectrum, helping them learn new skills and encouraging positive behaviors. To make training more hands-on and efficient, our team introduced Hans, Easterseals SoCal’s very own teaching robot. Hans helps BTs practice essential skills like differential reinforcement — and our research shows that Hans is just as effective as human trainers!
