UPDATE* Since API level 29, you're required to ask the user for the ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION permission at runtime. For versions below 29, it will work normally.
We'll be using shared preferences to hold some data so that we can customise our app to be more user friendly. Hope it helps!
*Also as a note, your app must be running somewhere on your device for this step counter to work (it won't work if you completely close the app).
