Maglev (magnetic levitation) trains use powerful electromagnetic forces to lift and propel themselves above the track, meaning they never touch the ground. Instead of wheels and rails, they float on a magnetic field, which eliminates friction and allows for incredibly smooth and fast travel.
Because there’s no contact with the track, maglev trains can reach remarkable speeds — over 600 km/h (around 373 mph) in testing. For comparison, that’s faster than a Formula 1 car at full throttle!
Traditional trains, by contrast, rely on steel wheels running on steel rails, which creates friction and limits their maximum speed. Maglev technology removes that limitation entirely, using magnetic forces for both levitation and propulsion.
