Mantra IAO -- An Exercise from the Pistis Sophia The Pistis Sophia is a Gnostic text said to have been written in the third or fourth century AD. It contains secret dialogues between Jesus and his disciples following his resurrection and provides a glimpse into the final stages of spiritual enlightenment. In the fifth book of the Pistis Sophia, the sacred mantra IAO is taught. Here is what is said about it in the text:

And Jesus made invocation, turning himself towards the four corners of the world with his disciples, who were all clad in linen garments, and saying: “iaō iaō iaō.” This is its interpretation: iōta, because the universe hath gone forth; alpha, because it will turn itself back again; ōmega, because the completion of all the completeness will take place.

To practice this mantra, find a quiet and tranquil spot where you can sit still for some time and relax, close your eyes and take a few moments to let go of any “chatter” in the mind. Once you feel like you are in a calm and relaxed state, begin to gently chant the mantra for a time that feels comfortable for you, focusing on its sound and vibrations as you pronounce and elongate each syllable (iiiiiiiiii….aaaaaaa……oooooo…; that is “i” as in the “e” in “see,” “a” as in “ah,” and “o” as in “so”). When finished, spend a few moments staying still, absorbing and enjoying the benefits of chanting the mantra.

This mantra is equally inspiring, regenerative to the body and mind, a healing prayer on its own to give thanks to the Creator, and also a powerful mantra for tantric sexual alchemy and raising the base life force kundalini into higher energy centers 🐍
