Meralco is planning to use “smart meters” that will help authorities track down stolen and refurbished electric meters.
Meralco senior VP and head of network operations Engineer Froilan Savet said the new smart meters send a signal that will help police to track down the location of the stolen meters.
At least 2,300 Meralco electric meters - priced at P15,000-P20,000 each - were stolen last year, Savet said.
