What if Stannis Raised Daenerys and Viserys Part 2? Let's explore the depths of it in this video.
Ned: Lord Stannis, what an unexpected pleasure. You are quite early as well. King Robert and his party are not expected to arrive for another few days.
Ned turns and regards the gaggle of guests kneeling in his great hall. At their front is Stannis Baratheon, looking more like he is preparing for battle than a feast. Beside him is his lady wife, dressed in all the finery expected from one of her station. When she looks up, she is almost glowing and looks more like a queen than she ever did before.
But there is something else. While neither was the most affectionate of people, there is tension in their bodies.
Stannis: Thank you, Lord Stark. That was actually by intention. We have much to tell you, if you are willing to indulge us.
Ned: I always have time for those who have business in Winterfell, though I suspect that your words will not be pleasant.
Rhaella: No, they are not, your grace. As you know, after the fall of my house’s rule, my Lord husband was named my warden and kept watch over Dragonstone before eventually marrying me and becoming lord in practice. He has also raised my children.
Ned: Yes, I am aware. Jon Arryn speaks of such things. He says you hold a lively court, as many houses still regard the dragons with immense respect. Houses from across the Seven Kingdoms, from Dorne to the Neck, all go there to pay their respects to you.
Stannis: Indeed, but that is far more than the trappings of court. It is a political faction aimed at checking Lannister power. Since my brother, the queen, and her father seem to have forgotten who rules the Iron Throne. They have demanded more and more positions, titles, and honors. It is nauseating.
Ned: On that we can certainly agree. I have never been fond of Lord Tywin, and I am in favor of anything that checks his influence, but if you are here to ask me to join your faction, you may return home disappointed. Although we support what you do, the North does not take part in southern politics.
Rhaella: You may not feel that way once you hear everything we have to say, my lord. My husband has recently conducted an investigation that proves Robert’s children might not truly be his. Instead, they are bastards born of incest by Cersei and Jaime Lannister.
Ned: Shocked. Lord Stannis, that is a grave accusation, and one Lord Tywin is not keen on forgetting. I hope you have proof to back up these claims; otherwise, you may find an enemy of his.
Stannis: I do have proof, genealogies, records, and-
Ned: Begging your pardon, my lord. But those are not proof. They will see it as slander and nothing more if you present that. And I cannot commit the North on such…flimsy evidence, especially given your position. Surely you can see that such a claim can be seen as…opportunistic. If Robert’s children are disinherited in any way, it will suddenly make you the heir.
Rhaella: Come, Lord Stark. You’ve known my husband for many years, and he was never a man for such underhanded tricks. Besides, don’t you think it would be ironic for someone like me to be wringing my hands over incest? Besides, it is not just my husband who looked into this matter. Even your brother by marriage, Jon Arryn, was also looking into this. In fact, he was the one who brought it to Lord Stannis’s attention.
Ned: Jon Arryn?!
Stannis: You seem surprised, Lord Stark?
Ned tenses, pressing his lip together as he wonders if he should risk speaking. The message that arrived last night is still fresh in his mind, the words hastily scrawled, but their warning clear.
Jon Arryn did not die a natural death; he was killed by the Lannisters. Could this be the reason why they killed him? As impossible as it seems, everything would add up. These two seem too closely connected to be mere coincidences.
Looking at the earnestness in Rhaella’s eyes and the firmness of Stannis’s gaze, Ned finally exhales.
Ned: Yes, I have not been totally shut off to the happenings in court. I have heard some unsavory rumors regarding what happened to Lord Arryn. But even if what you say is true, what would you have me do?
