Bertie Fisher only competed in one round of the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship in 1997 but he made it count, leading from the front to take a commanding Circuit of Ireland win. Behind him, Austin McHale, James Cullen, Stephen Murphy, Eamonn Boland and Liam O’Callaghan all gave chase in their Group A supercars but none of them could prevent Fisher from taking a then record breaking eighteenth Irish Tarmac Rally Championship event win. The programme also follows the exploits of another Fisher, Sammy, who was undertaking the event for the first time in his Mini.
