Today I compare 6 popular microphones in a typical noisy (untreated) room.
In today's video, I demonstrate the Neumann TLM 103, Sennheiser MKH 416 (Shotgun / Boom Microphone), Shure SM7B, SM58 and Super 55, and the RODE NT1.
In the first half of the video, we can hear each microphone before removing two loud computer servers. The sound of the computer servers is subtle, but you can clearly hear them in the background, especially with the more expensive microphones.
As it turns out, in a loud room such as this, you may be better off with a lower priced, less sensitive microphone, such as the SM58, SM7B or Super 55.
The more expensive microphones are definitely more sensitive and cover a much higher range of sound, but when the room itself is loud, it may be best to use a less sensitive mic.
I'm new to Voice-Overs and narration.
I've never been paid to do voice acting or narration but I'm learning right now and I thought it would be great if I shared what I learn, as I learn it. Why not follow along and learn together?
