Join Cape Cod's Gumshoe Historians for a fun evening of cocktails and the Bard -- and support public media.
Come to the Chatham Orpheum and join the crew of Hit and Run History for drinks and learn more about their latest project, "Stephano: The True Story of Shakespeare's Shipwreck". Then watch The Tempest, performed on stage at Shakespeare's Globe in London, in its only East Coast engagement.
Tickets to this event can only be purchased through Hit and Run History's crowdsourcing site http://www.hitandrunhistory.com/shake.... The cocktail reception starts at 6 PM and the film at 7 PM.
With a preproduction grant from Mass Humanities and a Letter of Commitment from Rhode Island PBS, Hit and Run History has been working this winter and spring to bring "Stephano: The True Story of Shakespeare's Shipwreck" to public media viewers.
From Shakespeare's Globe:
"WE ARE SUCH STUFF AS DREAMS ARE MADE ON.
Prospero, Duke of Milan, usurped and exiled by his own brother, holds sway over an enchanted island. He is comforted by his daughter Miranda and served by his spirit Ariel and his deformed slave Caliban. When Prospero raises a storm to wreck this perfidious brother and his confederates on the island, his long contemplated revenge at last seems within reach.
Imbued with a spirit of magic and the supernatural, The Tempest is Shakespeare’s late great masterpiece of forgiveness, generosity and enlightenment."
