Teaching the sight word “said” doesn’t have to be boring!
In this video, I’ll show you how I teach my students the tricky word said through sound boxes, phonics logic, and a fun little story that makes it easy to remember.
We start by counting the sounds: /s/ – /e/ – /d/
Then I draw sound boxes to show each sound, and we talk about why we hear /e/ but see “ai.”
My students love the story of the fighting vowels A and I, and how Superhero E comes to solve the problem — that’s why we hear “eh” in said!
This simple method helps children understand the word, not just memorize it.
