ika-isa ng Nobyembre sa taong 1897 itinatag ang kauna unahang republika sa Pilipinas,Ito ay ang Republika ng Biak na Bato,nilagdaan ni Emilio Aguinaldo at iba pang rebolusiyonaryo ang konstitusiyon profesional de la republica de filipina na isinulat sa kabundukan ng Biak na Bato sa San Miguel sa lalawigan ng Bulacan,nakasaad rito sa saligang batas na pagpapatayo ng sariling republikang pilipino at paghihiwalay ng pilipinas sa espaniya,ngunit tila ito ay nabaliwala,nagtagal lamang ito ng isang buwan,dahil nabuwag ito ng isang kasunduan pangkapayapaan ng bansang espaniya,sa mga kondisyon,pero kung mababasa ang kasulatan sa kasunduan ng Biak na Bato,ibeneta ni Emilio Aguinaldo sa mga espaniyol ang Republika ng Biak na Bato sa halagang walong daang libong piso.
