What Is the Best Superman Game?

The search for the best Superman game is harder than it should be. If you check Metacritic, for example, you’ll find a lot of low scores. That’s a bummer, especially for one of DC's key comic book heroes. The highest-scoring game on the list, as of the time of this video, is 2002’s Superman: Shadow of Apokolips.

That’s what this video is about. The game is based on the 90s cartoon Superman: The Animated Series, but by revisiting the classic 1940s series, we can determine if this game really makes the player feel “faster than a speeding bullet” and “more powerful than a locomotive.”

Shadow of Apokolips was originally released on PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Gamecube, so it’s not so easy to get your hands on it these days. If you’re really itching to play as Superman, your best bet is probably the Injustice fighting series (which don’t meet my personal criteria for being the “best Superman games,” unfortunately).
