海界の村を歩く 太平洋 屋形島（大分県）

屋形島（やかたじま）
蒲江町の南約2kmの蒲江湾口に位置する。西側と北側中央部に集落と耕地がある。地質は黒色千枚岩からなり、気候は温暖多雨で、夏季には南南東、冬季には北西の季節風をうける。南7kmにある深島を結ぶ海中には起伏の多い天然礁がある。海流は瀬戸内海の低温水と黒潮から流入する高温水との混合流となっている。島名は、かつて唐船が来航した際、来泊者の仮屋が建てられたことに因むという。島の開拓元禄5年（1692）に始まり、のちに佐伯藩の藩牧が開かれた。寛保3年（1743）に深島から4戸が移住している。真珠母貝・ヒオウギ貝の養殖は昭和38年ごろから始まっている。近年、トコブシ漁などの潜水漁も営まれるようになった。（「シマダス）参照）

Yakatajima
Located approximately 2 km south of Sabae Town at Sabae Bay Exit. There are settlements and cultivated land in the west and north central part. Geology consists of black lithic rocks, the climate is warm and rainy, and in summer the south-southeast, in winter the northwest monsoon winds. There are rough natural reefs in the sea connecting the deep island 7 km south. The ocean current is a mixed flow of low temperature water in the Seto Inland Sea and high temperature water flowing from the Kuroshio. The name of the island is said to have been that the temporary residence of the visiting person was built when a Tangsen boat made a visit. It started in the year of the island's Genroku 5 (1692), after which Saeki's Tomakomai was opened. Four households from Fukashima moved in 1743 in Kanpo. Aquaculture of pearl mother shellfish and sea urchin shellfish has been started from around 1955. In recent years, diving fishing such as tokobushi fishing has also begun to be practiced.
