My leash snapped.
I was too far from shore.
And suddenly, I was paddling just to survive.
This was the closest I’ve ever been to death.
Out there in the water, there was no adrenaline rush anymore — just fear, focus, and the instinct to stay alive. When I finally made it back, shaken and exhausted, I got a call from a friend that helped me make sense of what had just happened.
I realized something uncomfortable:
My pursuit of adrenaline — chasing intensity, pushing limits — could have killed me.
But I didn’t die.
I was given a second chance.
And with it came a lifelong lesson about humility, risk, and respect — for nature, for life, and for myself.
