KARUMBA OR BUST! - Crossing Australia's Gulf Country

We roll 800km from Mission Beach west to Karumba running two Chev Silverados, the Lotus caravan and our plate boat as we push deep into proper Gulf country.
Leaving the coast behind we stop at Innot Hot Springs for a soak before detouring to the ancient Kalkani Crater, a walk straight into Queensland’s volcanic past.
From there it’s on through Georgetown with a visit to the extraterrestrial exhibit before heading out to the historic Cumberland Chimney, the last standing reminder of an old gold crushing plant sitting alone in the outback.
We pass through Undara Volcanic National Park for lunch at the resort before finishing the long run into Karumba and wrapping the day with sunset drinks at the Sunset Tavern overlooking the Gulf.
Big kilometres, empty roads and classic outback stops as we edge closer to the top of Australia.
