How to Build a Quick and Easy C&C Cage Ramp!

Want to build an easy ramp for your guinea pig's C&C cage? Here I show you how I did it using leftover correx and cable ties!

Step-by-step method:

1. Work out how long and wide you want your ramp to be - make sure the slope isn't too steep! For my cage, with an upper level one grid above the base, I used a piece 90cm long by 24cm wide.

2. Score the correx to make the sides. I scored two lines, each 5cm from the edge of the correx, meaning I had 14cm in the middle, forming the part of the ramp where the guinea pigs will walk on. The sides won't fold up at perfect right angles but that doesn't matter.

3. Make three holes across the top of the ramp (center part only, not on the sides), each about 1-2cm in from the edge. They don't have to be neat as they will be covered up.

4. Cut a length of old carpet or other grippy material the same area as the middle section of the ramp - in my case 14cm by 90cm. Glue this on with a line of glue down the center. Don't apply the glue too near the holes at the top, you need to be able to lift up the carpet and access the holes.

5. Using cable ties, attach the ramp by feeding the ties through the supporting grids and then through the holes you made in your ramp. Tighten them underneath then clip off the excess cable tie. Don't make them too tight or they might be difficult to cut off if you ever want to.

6. Finally, make a cover for each of the sides, using any old material to cover the sharp edge of the correx. The material for each side with need to measure double the height of the side by the length of the ramp, in my case I had sides 5cm high, so my two covers measured 10cm by 90cm. As I showed in the video, sew along the ends of the cover, then turn inside out.
