Crash of the Titans is the 14th game in the Crash Bandicoot series of games , despite being the sixth game in the main chronology , which began with Crash Bandicoot in 1996. It is the first Crash Bandicoot game to appear on the seventh generation of consoles , and the first to offer a 16 : 9 Widescreen display and Wi - Fi LAN . The games story centers on the discovery of a mysterious new substance called Mojo , which the series villain , Dr. Neo Cortex , later somehow escaped from inside Crash , where in the last game he ended up at the end , plans to use it to create a large army of mutants . The hero of the series , Crash Bandicoot , must put an end to his enemys plans , destroying the army and gathering Mojo substances . The games title is a paranoia of the 1981 film , Clash of the Titans . In it you can climb on animals from an island , which genetically modified with the weapon : JoMojo , were transformed into incredibly monstrous creatures by Neo Cortex and his niece , Nina Cortex . There are 15 different monsters and some Neo Cortex slaves . Each monster has a certain level of punches it can take . When this level is completed , you can hypnotize them with your Aku Aku mask .
