Staying safe online and protecting your privacy can be challenging in our digital age, especially with the rise of cyber crime. While the internet and social media are valuable tools to stay connected, they’re also one of the main ways people put their online security at risk. With our work and personal lives increasingly requiring us to share more and more private information on the internet, we need to consider who has access to your personal information and how do you protect yourself, your passwords, and you data against cyber threats, phishing attacks, malware, and identity theft.
In this month’s episode of TVO’s The Thread with Nam Kiwanuka, we delve into the issue of digital privacy and cyber security with the assistance of Polly, our AI advisor on what’s on the minds of Ontarians. We investigate the rise of cybercrimes, the lack of public concern for digital threats, and how you can stay safe online while protect yourself and your loved ones from hackers and fraudsters trying to steal your data.
Our team speaks with victims of cybercrime – from those swindled and scammed online, to those caught up in a massive hacking attempt. We also meet with the head of the RCMP’s National Cybercrime Coordination Centre, an OPP detective inspector, and cyber expert Ritesh Kotak about the changing face of cyber security, and solutions to keep yourself safer online.
How do you protect yourself and your loved ones from cybercrime? Why should you care about your digital security? What are the consequences of sharing personal information online? Who has access to this information? What happens if your private digital data is stolen or misused? How are companies gathering, storing, and using your personal information? Can you ever protect your online presence? What data are apps mining from your devices?
Join us as we unravel digital privacy and security threats and explore ways you can shield yourself from hackers. All this and more in this episode of TVO’s The Thread with Nam Kiwanuka.
