These tacos are smoky, creamy, fresh, and seriously EASY to whip up. The real star? My homemade Hemp Seed Ranch Dressing — rich, tangy, and dairy-free! 🥗✨
What you’ll need for BBQ Chickpea Tacos:
1 can chickpeas, drained & rinsed
½ cup vegetable broth
¼ cup BBQ sauce
1 tbsp olive oil
Salt, pepper, garlic powder
tortillas, butter lettuce, red onion, cilantro, and extra BBQ sauce
Creamy Hemp Seed Ranch Dressing:
Hemp Seed Ranch Dressing 🥗
1 cup hemp seeds
1 cup plain, unsweetened dairy-free milk
Juice from ½ a lemon
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp fresh dill (plus 1 tsp dried dill)
2 tbsp fresh parsley
1 ½ tsp garlic powder
1 ½ tsp onion powder
Salt & pepper to taste
Blend, whisk, and drizzle — it’s that easy! Store the dressing in the fridge for up to 5 days (if it lasts that long 😉).

Big thanks to Shakayla Felice for sharing this recipe idea — it’s quick enough for weeknights but bold enough for weekends. If you love tacos with flavor and a healthy twist, you’re going to LOVE these.
You have to try these barbecue ranch and chickpea tacos. She , Shakayla Felice, tole me to trty htese chickpea taco along with hemp seed dressing, so I did. Following along Shakayla's recipe to see if I like it as much as she does. So follow along with me.
First I rinsed my chickpeas, then I add the chickpeas to the greased skillet. Seasoning them with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Let them cook down as I add vegetable broth and barbecue BBQ sauce. I'll bring this to a low simme. I want the barbecue sauce to get nice and sticky. While that cooks down, it's a great time to make Shakalya's hemp seed ranch dressing.
I've made healthy options before, but this was the first time I ever used hemp seeds. Hemp seeds are rich in Omega 3's and Omega 6 fatty acids. They are considered a complete protein.
Let's make the hemp seed ranch dressing. In a blender, combine the hemp seeds and dairy-free milk. Blend until smooth.
Add the blended mixture to a large bowl. Add the lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, chopped dill, chopped parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk everything together until the dressing is smooth and well combined. Taste the dressing and adjust seasoning as needed (more salt, pepper, or lemon juice). For a thicker dressing, use less dairy free milk.
Transfer the dressing to a storage-safe container or bottle and store in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Now that the chickpeas are done I can assemble. They are looking so good. Feel free to add toppings that you like. I'm adding lettuce , barbecue chickpeas. mango salsa, onion, and hemp seed ranch dressing.
