Timothy was trained from a young age by His mother and grandmother to be a sincere believer. Paul commends Timothy for his continual faithfulness to what he was taught - testifying of Timothy’s wholehearted commitment/loyalty to not just Paul himself, but to the Lord Jesus. In other words, Timothy was a true disciple of Christ who had a devoted heart and was reliable in emulating Christ! The Lord desires for us to move from mere commitment to the heart posture of true loyalty to Him, so that we too can be reliable to fully do Gods will. By the end of this teaching, we are equipped with tools to become believers who are enduring in the face of temptations, trials and persecutions, becoming faithful and reliable in our relationship with God.
