Learn how to make this cute knitted yarn mushroom trinket box using circular knitting machines and crochet!
This project does require some knowledge of crochet to complete * 🧶
Supplies needed:
100g Red yarn - light Aran
100g White yarn - light Aran
100g Beige yarn - light Aran
A4 cardstock - 2 sheets
Fiberfill
48 pin circular knitting machine (I used a Sentro but the Addi would also work)
22 pin circular knitting machine (i use an unbranded Amazon machine)
3.5mm crochet hook
darning needle
scissors
Glue
I had the idea that i wanted to make a knitted look ornament that had a secret storage compartment, and I really liked the idea of the mushroom cap uncovering a little place to store trinkets or small items! After some experimentation this was the final design.
My 17 year old claimed this before I even finished making it - because apparently a cute knitted mushroom ornament ‘fits’ her room decor! It’s surprisingly sturdy, even when the storage compartment is empty, though as the support is only cardstock it should still be treated gently.
You could change the cardstoc elements to a fabric sewn interior, with some thick interfacing in which case it would be more resistant, and also survive being washed more deeply than surface wipe only.
