When QBs are taken 1-2 in a given draft they're typically linked for the rest of their careers. Ric Mirer's Seahawks beat Drew Bledsoe's Patriots twice in 1993 (Bledsoe did not play in the second game in Seattle), and won AFC rookie of the year with Jerome Bettis.
Since '93 though, Bledsoe easily established himself as the better of the two. The Seahawks eventually traded Mirer and a 4th round pick to the Bears for their 1st round pick in 1997 (yes, i was shocked too). He'd only start 3 games for Chicago and asked for his release after 1 season.
The Patriots defense started strong in '97. This was the 3rd time out of 4 games they'd hold the opposition to under 10 points.
