We spent time in a Filipino prison: IWAHIG, Puerto Princesa Prison

On our first trip to Puerto Princesa we didn't even know this place existed. The day we arrived back in Puerto Princesa we get pulled over by the police and the next day we end up in a Filipino prison!

Iwahig is also known as "the prison without walls", it's one of the largest open prisons in the world and welcomes visitors! With one guard on the gate that unnervingly doesn't check bags (or bikes), we spent an hour here talking to inmates and finding out just how this correctional facility really works.

We can't believe we nearly missed out on this experience, it's really not talked about enough. We would highly recommend this if you're visiting Puerto Princesa in The Philippines!
