9,024 miles flown, one final border crossing, and one MASSIVE TFR

After 9 months of exploring the Lower 48, I finally point The Hawkwagon north back to Alaska. But what should’ve been the final simple leg turns into anything but. Between wildfire smoke, VFR minimums, and a massive TFR blocking the route, I had to make some tough calls to get home in time for my wife’s birthday.

This video marks the final flight in my 9000 mile journey across North America, documenting the entire adventure here on Cleared to Adventure. From navigating The Trench to dodging weather systems across Canada, it all comes down to one flight through the St. Elias Mountains and back into US airspace.

Oh, and speaking of Flight Training... If you try to learn to fly from YouTube, you might end up on the news (and not in a good way). I have thousands of hours flying airplanes and helicopters, and I take every precaution to limit risk, especially in Alaska, where things can get serious fast. Off-airport flying isn’t something you just ‘try out’...Get proper training from a CFI (Like those at Fly8MA) before you even think about it!
