Timing and direction are the two main definitions for understanding how two fans (poi, staffs, etc) can relate to each other. In this tutorial, using the example of the native side basic weaves, we will consider all the ways to connect them together.

◾️In terms of DIRECTION, we have 4 ways to spin the props:
Opposite direction, inward
Opposite direction, outward
Same direction, clockwise
Same direction, counterclockwise

◾️As for TIMING, there a two main phases:
Same time - the props reach the top and bottom points at the same time
Split time - one prop is up, and another is down

◾️In the case of the Opposite direction/Same time and Same direction/Split time spinning, there are two more concepts:
Same planes - during the entire movement the props are simultaneously either in the front plane or in the back plane
Different planes - during the entire movement the props are in different planes

The tutorial provides examples of the application of these concepts in the case of basic closed/open grip native side weaves. However, they all apply to any spin movements. For example, you can try to make the same direction/split time/same planes crosser or the opposite direction/split time fountain.
