Timber Hitch and Killick hitch - Part of the Scouting Knots

Next is the Timber Hitch and Killick Hitch (a.k.a Killock Hitch)
Hitch means to tie onto something, for example a pole, ring or post.
whats a Killick? is a name given to a anchor made of stone and/or wood also a slag for a rank in the Navy. See link below for definition:

I am filming a short series of videos based on the knots taught in Scouting. (UK) This will cover a mixture of Stopper knots (knots at the end of a rope), Bends (joins two ropes together), Hitches (ties to a ring, pole or bar), Lashings (joining poles together), Splices (joining a rope together permanently) and Whipping (knot work that stops a rope from unravelling).
I have based my choices on what is required by each group of scouting and what I have found easier for them to remember.
As I have said many times to Scouts, "a fancy or complicated knot is great but useless if you can't remember how to tie it".



Cubs - need to learn three different knots, and one hitch, they are not named but a Timber/Killick hitch is a great and simple hitch to learn, it could be one of them.

Scouts - need to learn 6 knots, and again not named but again this could be one of them.

Use: one uses for the Timber hitch used to attach to a log so it can be dragged, use the extra hitch to help steady the log. These knots are easy to remember and isn't to difficult to untie.
