In this video we are working on the hydraulic system. The engine is running, the wheels can spin, but will the car rise today? We are working our way through the hydraulic system, section by section.
In November 2025, I acquired this car, a US specification 1965 Citroën ID 19 F Wagon Luxe. The car had been with the same family since new in 1965. The full story about the car and restoration is described on Citroenvie, here: https://citroenvie.com/meet-big-blue-...
The ID19 has a 1911cc four-cylinder engine, notable for its three main bearings and long-stroke design, offering modest power, 77 hp. It is equipped with a Weber 24/32 single barrel carburetor. The hydraulic system is using a central pump to pressurize hydraulic oil to the car’s self-leveling suspension, power steering, and brakes, replacing conventional springs with spheres containing nitrogen gas and hydraulic fluid for a "magic carpet" ride, allowing for adjustable ride height and exceptional comfort. This car is equipped with a manual four-speed gearbox.
