Britain says it’s going to shambles - and today I’m investigating whether one tiny spa town is literally poisoning its own people. Welcome to Buxton! A place famous for its healing spa water… and its secret radioactive past.
This adventure takes us from ancient Celtic settlements to Roman spa culture, Victorian science hype, and the modern town built on these mysterious springs. Along the way I accidentally join a babushka hiking pack, taste water that might ruin me (or moisturise my insides), and chase down the real source of Buxton’s radium-infused reputation.
