The most ANNOYING PRINTER you can buy: HP blinking scan bar flashing light Smart Tank 7005

The scanner bar of my new HP 7005 is constantly flashing, accompanied by an annoying electronics tjirping sound. Yes, also when I close the lid. I have boosted this sound for this video, but in a silent environment it is clearly noticeable. Too bad, because the idea of these ink tanks sounds great. Support says I have to connect it to a Windows computer to update firmware. I do not have a windows computer nor do I know anybody that does. According to the diagnostic info the firmware is up to date. Google shows there are lots of users with this problem, and that HP promised a firmware update long ago... The long chat I was having with support has disappeared and the site does not allow me to reopen this chat, nor open a new chat. My first HP. My last. Anybody else found a solution?
