Townsville Was the Surprise… Magnetic Island Was the Mind Blower!

We rolled out of Airlie Beach and made our way north, with Townsville as the final destination… but not without stopping at every iconic BIG thing along the way. 😄

Roadside farm stalls, fresh local produce, and an incredible seafood shop made the drive feel like its own little adventure.

Arriving in Townsville meant diving straight into work, but we quickly built a rhythm we loved — daily walks and bike rides along The Strand, soaking up those ocean views and tropical breezes. On weekends, we played tourist: exploring the museum and checking out the epic James Cameron’s Challenging the Deep exhibition.

And then came Magnetic Island… and honestly, it blew our minds.
Stunning beaches, delicious food, cocktails by the water, and that perfectly chilled tropical vibe — it won us over instantly. 🌴✨

Townsville wasn’t on our must-see list, and plenty of people told us to skip it… but we’re so glad we didn’t. It ended up being one of the biggest surprises of our trip so far.
