Betty (Betty Driver) starts to get nuisance phone calls. Stan (Bernard Youens) grows uneasy when Dave (Reginald Marsh) makes pointed remarks about No.13. Irma (Sandra Gough) becomes upset when she believes Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) disapproves of her going out so soon after David’s (Alan Rothwell) death. Minnie (Margot Bryant) receives a letter from Audrey (Gillian McCann) explaining that she has left the street behind for good and that No.3 is to be sold. Dave arranges another outing with Irma, and Stan worries whether Dave has the power to evict them without warning. Emily advises Hilda (Jean Alexander) to speak to Dave and find out his intentions. Keith Lucas (David Webb) unsettles Betty and pressures her into paying for his drinks. Irma insists that her relationship with Dave isn’t serious. Jack (Arthur Leslie) buys a bell for the Rovers to ring at last orders. Cyril (William Moore) phones Betty to tell her he’s coming home early, much to Lucas’s displeasure.
