The purchase tax column on your Roofr materials will bring more visibility into the true costs for items and make sure you aren’t underquoting jobs.
💡 Material unit cost is now calculated from ‘Pre-tax cost’ + ‘Material purchase tax’.
1) How to add purchase tax to an individual item
In your Roofr catalog, find the ‘*Material purchase tax column*’.
Enter the percentage tax amount that you pay to the supplier on that item. (check your supplier invoice to find the tax percentage paid to your branch)
👉 Be sure to check this column as visible in your column settings. You’ll only see purchase tax for ‘Material’ item types.
2) How to add purchase tax to items in bulk
Check the box at the top left of your catalog item list to select all items, or
Check the individual boxes for the line items you wish to add purchase tax to.
Click ‘*More*’, select ‘*Manage purchase tax*’.
Enter the tax percentage you wish to add to all of the items checked. Click ‘*Save*’.
3) How to add purchase tax as a default setting
💡 Edited Default Values are automatically added to new catalog items but will not retroactively change items already in your catalog. You can change these values individually anytime.
In the Catalog section of your Roofr dashboard, select the ‘*Settings*’ tab. Click ‘*Edit*’.
Enter your default percentage value under ‘Material purchase tax’. You can also add your default values for Sales tax (the tax that your customer pays to you) and Waste in this section. Click *‘Save’*.
