For Wendy, losing custody of her son was one of the most painful moments of her life. For more than 20 years, she lived with the challenges of a substance use disorder, which deeply impacted many areas of her life. This struggle eventually led to her experiencing homelessness and to the court ending her reunification services with her son.
It was at the lowest point of Wendy’s life that she found Hope Gardens. Wendy entered the year-long Damascus program where she graduated with flying colors. Soon after graduating, Wendy became employed as a driver at Hope Gardens. Throughout Wendy’s time at Hope Gardens, she was able to find stability and a safe place to heal.
Hope Gardens gave Wendy hope. After completing the program, Wendy was able to get her son back. As things started looking up, Wendy’s desire to do something with her life increased. Now Wendy has accomplished one of her biggest goals in life, obtaining housing for her and her son.
For Wendy, finding the way home meant rebuilding her life with strength and hope—rediscovering faith, happiness, and joy along the way.
