We kick things off on Saturday morning following in the footsteps of Preston Pond's brigade, advancing on the extreme left of the Confederate army on April 6th. Pond and his men had a relatively easy time of it until late in the afternoon when they were ordered to make an attack through Tilghman Branch Ravine on McClernand's line. An attack that Pond made under protest, realizing the difficulty involved. The attack resulted in a bloody repulse.
We will retrace the brigade's steps across the far western side of the battlefield, ending at their position overlooking Tilghman Branch Ravine following their aborted attack. (And yes, we'll be crossing through the ravine!)
