New 2024 Audi EP4 NSU Prinz With e-tron Power

Audi asked its apprentices to turn the 1971 NSU Prinz 4 into an electric sports car, by widening the body and adding modern touches such as LED lighting.

The apprentices replaced the two-cylinder engine with a 240-horsepower electric motor taken from the Audi e-tron, which is connected to the battery from the plug-in hybrid Q7 SUV.

A team of apprentices was assigned to build an electric restomod to commemorate 150 years of the Audi factory in Neckarsulm, Germany, which originally produced knitting machines back in 1873. The result that stole the show, the Audi EP4 concept, was revealed over the weekend.

The project started in January with a 1971 NSU Prinz 4 that had been neglected for decades. NSU is a German automaker that was absorbed by Volkswagen in 1969 before merging with Auto Union to create the Audi brand we know today. The Prinz was built at Neckarsulm from 1961 to 1973, so the car is the perfect canvas for celebratory reinterpretations.
