To the south of Bradford City Centre is an area once known as Broomfields. This neighbourhood was largely the creation of the railway industry coming to Bradford and it became one of the most densely packed areas of housing and industry in the centre. The area very quickly became a slum and was transformed during the 20th Century in many ways.
This talk by Jonathan Crewdson, Director of the Neighbourhood Project, looks at the origins of this lost and forgotten community, how it was shaped and why it was radically changed. The talk also looks at the history of Bowling Park, just above Broomfields in between East and West Bowling.
