Despite the torrential rain this week, our team from Cairngorms Nature joined Kate Massey and Pete Cosgrove from Alba Ecology Ltd. to help remove American Skunk Cabbage from the Glenbeg Burn near Grantown on Spey before it made its way into the Spey River. These monstrous plants can grow up to 1.5m and as a non-native invasive species they shade out our native vegetation.
If you’d like to get involved and put conservation into action this summer then please visit Scottish Invasive Species Initiative to find out how you can report sightings of American skunk cabbage and join up to volunteering opportunities across the Highlands.
