In Uttar Pradesh, agriculture is the state's economic engine. Approximately 59% of the state's people work in agriculture. Most of the food grains in Uttar Pradesh are produced in Uttar Pradesh. This state cultivates all-season crops, such as (Rabi, Kharif, and Zayed). In Uttar Pradesh, the agricultural sector employs 59% of the population. The primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors contributed 24%, 27%, and 49% to Uttar Pradesh's GDP in the fiscal year 2016–17. In terms of milk production, Uttar Pradesh leads the nation. Rice, wheat, maize, millet, peas, and lentils are the principal food grains grown in the state. The state produced 1,985,000 tonnes of pulses in 2017–18. Uttar Pradesh leads the way when making wheat, barley, sugarcane, potatoes, and lentils. The three districts of Lucknow, Saharanpur, and Bulandshahr are major mango producers in the state.
