Instead of ethanol you could use Everclear if you can get hold of it.
Instead of distillation using the method I used (to recover the ethanol) you could use a vacuum distillation process. There are a few ways to recover the solvent
Ideally with a Soxhlet extractor you would use a specialised thimble to hold the dried chillies. However the thimble is expensive! I did try using coffee filter paper, but the best results I got doing it the way I did in this video.
