Nationals Leader David Littleproud speaks out after the party’s mass resignation amid hate speech laws division.
The Nationals leader blamed a rushed and unfair legislative process which prompted his senators to cross the floor on a hate speech bill, a move that ultimately led to the entire National membership of the Coalition frontbench quitting.
“We made it clear, and we tried every, we made every effort to ensure that we could get both bills through,” Mr Littleproud said.
“We weren’t far off, but we just didn’t have that comfort, and we ran out of time, and we made it clear, and I had continually had conversations with Sussan Ley to bring her along and understand our position and the sovereignty of our room.”
