Jethro is struggling to teach Duke how to fetch, but the dog refuses to cooperate. Meanwhile, Granny complains that Elly May has turned all the animals into pets, leaving nothing to cook for supper. Jethro suggests an alternative—Mr. Drysdale mentioned that “Beverly Caterers” can bring food straight to their door. However, Jed misinterprets and assumes Beverly Caterers is a woman who does all the cooking herself. Wanting to give it a try, he and Granny call to place an order, but the conversation quickly goes awry due to their misunderstandings. Meanwhile, over at the Drysdale home, Miss Jane informs Mr. Drysdale that his wife called in a panic—there’s a kangaroo hopping around their backyard. Drysdale, unfazed, realizes that a fellow banker must have sent it as a prank and arranges for the zoo to pick it up.

Back at the Clampett mansion, Granny spots the kangaroo and assumes it’s nothing more than an oversized jackrabbit. When she excitedly tells Jed about the enormous creature, he dismisses her claims, suspecting she’s been dipping into her moonshine. Every time Granny tries to show him the animal, it moves, making her look even less credible. Meanwhile, Jethro complains to Miss Jane about how rude Beverly Caterers was on the phone, prompting Drysdale to call and sort things out himself. The situation escalates when Granny, refusing to back down, gets into a full-on fistfight with the kangaroo. When she tells Jed about the brawl, he shakes his head and demands to know where she’s been hiding her moonshine. Just as things couldn’t get more confusing, Bill Tinsman and Marian Billington from Beverly Caterers arrive at the mansion to apologize, only adding to the chaos.
