The renowned Sree Vadakkumnathan temple is one of the oldest temples in Kerala. Situated in the heart of Thrissur town, it is admired for its unique architectural structure, made purely in wood and stone. This famous Siva Temple received the ‘Award of Excellence’ at the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.
The annual festival connected to this temple, ‘Thrissur Pooram’ is often referred to as the festival of festivals, because of its richness, vibrance, and magnitude.
