Bragged Clara Carnation to Ruby the Rose.
Ruby said, “Really? Oh dear, bless your heart—
But beauty like mine is a true work of art!”

“You’re both being silly!” said Lilah the Lily.
“My perfume is perfect—my petals are frilly!”
Then Marigold twirled with dramatic delight:
“My color is sunshine—I’m dazzling and bright!”

“Balderdash!” Vicki the Violet chimed in.
“I’m tiny and charming—it’s clear I should win!
I glow in the shadows and shine in the sun.
It’s obvious I am the prettiest one!”

And so it continued—oh, what a sight!
Flowers were fussing from morning till night.
Petals flapping, tempers hot,
Bragging, boasting—quite a lot!

Till a frog from the pond, with a splash and a hop,
Croaked, “ENOUGH OF THIS NONSENSE—THIS ARGUING MUST STOP!
I’m trying to nap! You’re hurting my ears!
You’ve bickered and battled for hours, my dears!”

“Come look in the water, right here by the tree!
Look at yourselves—go on, tell me what you see.”
They gazed in the pond with soft introspection
And stared at their bright, beautiful reflection.

“See?” said the frog, “you don’t have to fight!
Each one of you shines in your own special light.
But beauty grows fuller—second to none—
When petals and colors all blend into one.”
