These sessions show the early stages of getting various ideas down for the album. My preferred method is to record rough takes, listen back and then think of melodies/phrases/ideas in my head without the guitar in my hands. It gets me out of thinking in boxes (pentatonic) and allows me to come up with lines that I may not have thought of from noodling on the guitar. It's a vital aspect to my writing sessions, and has helped me come up with countless different ideas that I would have not thought of otherwise. Give it a try next time you're writing. Record your rough ideas, listen back and see where you want it to go in your head rather than relying solely on the guitar. Let me know how you get on with it!
