The “CPR Assistant” app has been developed to assist medical professionals in performing #cardiopulmonary #resuscitation (CPR). It is based on the recommendations of the European Resuscitation Council.
The application includes algorythms for three age groups of patients: newborns, children, and adults. After selecting the patient's age, the corresponding algorithm will activate.

The app is built on several independent timers. It will audibly remind you of preparations for critical stages of resuscitation, the need to administer medications, or assess the heart rhythm. In addition to audio commands, the timer will change color.
Depending on the selected age group, a metronome will start at a frequency of 110 beats per minute with cycles of 30/2, 15/2, or 3/1. The last 5 beats of the metronome are presented in a different key to prepare the medic for delivering a breath. The sound of the metronome can be muted if, for example, you have started performing mechanical chest compressions. When the corresponding button is pressed, the audio prompts for “breath” will stop if airway management has been achieved and #ventilation is performed independently of #compression , and the #metronome will switch to a continuous mode.

The application records actions in memory and provides a report after #resuscitation efforts are completed. The entries in the report are prepared for copying and filling in electronic medical records. They contain timestamps for when the app was launched, medications were administered, and other procedures were performed. The report is saved and remains accessible even after the application is closed. If you are using the application on a Wear OS smartwatch, the history from the watch can be synchronized with the application on your phone. This ensures that reports from the watch are not lost and are also available for copying and saving in the patient’s electronic record.

The “ #CPR Assistant” program is an excellent tool that will assist medics in real-time to carry out resuscitation efforts according to the ERC protocols, guiding them on what to do and when, significantly speeding up the completion of medical documentation. This will lead to improved quality of resuscitation assistance, increased patient survival rates, and facilitate the medic's work.
