Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter and guitarist, Mei Semones, creates a sweetly evocative blend of jazz, bossa nova, and math-y indie rock. It's not only a way for her to find solace in her favorite genres, but also an intuitive means of catharsis. Plinking guitar tones and asymmetrical time signatures exemplify her forays into angular indie rock, especially on her debut EP ‘Kabutomushi’. The songs in Semones's Audiotree Live performance chronicle infatuation, devotion, and vulnerability, complete with sweeping strings, virtuosic guitar playing, and heartfelt lyrics sung in both English and Japanese.
