Foreigners Experience Songkran for the FIRST TIME in Bangkok

The best time to visit Thailand is in mid-April to experience the Songkran celebration which is the Thai New Year around the country and this is exactly what we are doing today. Our goal is to find the best places to experience Songkran in the most fun and authentic way with some Thai street food, watching the Songkran parade and of course participating the the biggest water gun fight in Bangkok!

Our journey started on Khaosan Road, a very famous street for nightlife in Bangkok but during Songkran also know as the water festival, Khao San Road turns into a water gun playground all day, all night and for several days. The experience of walking around and participating in those water fights was one of the most fun things we have done in a long time. Everyone was participating from local children to the elderlies and foreigners from all around the world, it was truly something special to witness.

From there we made our way to Sanam Luang while eating some delicious Thai street food along the way. This park had a lot going one from a music festval, a water zone and even more food stall all around. The things about Sanam Luang is that it is the starting point for the Songkran parade which was truly impressive with hundreds of participant and over a dozen parade floats.

Finally, we took a tuktuk to the ICONSIAM mall which is one of the most popular place to celebrate Songkran in Bangkok for their ICONSIAM Thaiconic Songkran Celebration. They had live music on a large outdoor stage, a massive wet zone with lights and different water effects and some more food of course. With that being said, if you visit the ICONSIAM mall, make sure to visit SOOKSIAM on the first floor for their street food concept. They have tons of variety from dumplings to mango sticky rice, pad thai and many more.

We are so happy that we had the chance to experience Songkran 2025 in Thailand and can't wait to be back for the water festival next year!
