1986-2007 Ford Taurus CV Axle Replacement

Tools you will need for repair:
Jack stands or Jack
CV Axle
30mm axle nut socket
Lug wrench 19mm or 3/4"
Brake cleaner
18mm socket for the tie rod or sway bar link
Wire pliers for cotter pin
12mm socket for the brake caliper line
Tie rod tool
Piece of wire to hang caliper
21mm socket for strut bolt
10mm socket for brake line
Torque wrench or impact driver
Large pole to push down hub assembly
Large screwdriver
Large hammer
Pry bar

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CV AXLE REMOVAL:
1. Remove center cap
2. Loosen cv axle nut
3. Loosen lug nuts
4. Jack up car and place on jack stands
5. Remove wheel
6. Remove cotter pin from tie rod
7. Remove 18mm nut, place tie rod out of way
8. Remove 2 -12mm bolts holding brake caliper
9. Put caliper on a piece of wire and hang on the strut
10. Remove disc pads from caliper
11. Remove 10mm bolt from brake line
12. Remove 18mm nut from sway bar link, use a pry bar to loosen, push down
13. Remove 21mm nut from strut assembly
14. Remove 30mm axle nut
15. Push down on hub assembly, use a large bar if necessary, loosen from strut
16. Get a pry bar and pry cv axle from transmission
17. Remove cv axle from from assembly
18. Installation is the reverse
