The Daylesford Spa Country Railway specialises in operating restored rail motors of the Victorian Railways. This video features DERM 63RM and Walker 280hp rail motor 91RM operating Sunday train services through the picturesque central highlands region during Autumn 2016.
These single car vehicles formed the backbone of branch line and remote services in the state of Victoria, Australia through most of the 20th century. Their successful operation over many years in Victoria has lead to the development of the modern day Sprinter and Vlocity railcars.
DERM 63RM was originally built in 1930 at the VR's Newport Workshops and is based on a St Louis car company design with power equipment from Electro Motive.
280hp Walker rail motor 91RM was built by Martin and King in Somerton, Victoria in the early 1950's. The power unit was imported from Walker Bros of Wigan England.
