රුවන්මැලි සෑය ආසන්නයේම දැකිය හැකි වැදගත් නටඹුන් රාශියක් පිළිබදව මෙහිදී අවධානයට ලක් කෙරේ.රුවන්මැලි සෑය වටා හා සෑ මළුව තුළ පිහිටි අලංකාර කැටයම් හා විශේෂතා, වැලිමළුවේ දර්ශණ සහ පිවිසුම් මාර්ග මෙන්ම රුවන්මැලිසෑය අවට විශේෂ ගොඩනැගිලි හා විහාරාරාම පිළිබදවද මෙහිදී සාකච්ඡා කෙරේ.
මහා විහාර දාන ශාළාව රුවන්මැලි සෑය ආසන්නයේම ඉදිකර ඇති ශිලාමය ගොඩනැගිල්ලකි. මයා විහාර දාන ශාලාව ක්‍රි.පූ.3 වන සියවසේදී දේවානම් පියතිස්ස රාජ සමයේදි නිර්මාණය කර ඇත. මහා විහාරික දාන ශාළාවට ගල්කණු මත කරන ලද වහලක් තිබූ බවට ශේෂවූ ගල් කණු අනුව පෙනී යයි. මහාවිහාර දාන ශාලාවේ විශේෂත්වය වන්නේ අඩි 45 ක් දිග පිසූ බත් දැමීමට භාවිතා කරන ලද ගල් ඔරුවයි. මෙහි සුමට කරන ලද ගල් ලෑලි එකිනෙකට වද්දවා ඇති ආකාරයද විශිෂ්ඨය. ව්‍යංජන දැමීමට කුඩා ගල් ඔරු භාවිතා කර ඇත. එක් ගල් ඔරුවක ඇතුලත ඇති කුහරය අනුව එය හොදි දැමීමට භාවිතා කරන්නට ඇති බව පෙනේ. ගලින් නිම කර ඇත්තේ වැඩිවෙලාවක් උණුසුම්ව තබා ගැනීමට විය හැකිය. දාන ශාලාවේ බිමට සුමට කරන ලද ගල්කුට්ටි අතුරා ඇත. දෙපස පුන්කළස් සහිත දොරටු සතර අනුව සතර දිගින් වැඩම කරන ලද භික්ෂූන් වහන්සේලා උදෙසා මෙම දාන ශාලාවේ දානය සකස් කර ඇති බව පැහැදිලිවේ. එමෙන්ම මෙහි දෙපස බෝකොළ සහිත පැන් කෙන්ඩිය හා දෙපා සළකුණු කැටයම සහ අඩ කවය අනුව එම ස්ථානයෙහි භික්ෂූන් වහන්සේලාගේ පාද දෝවනය කර ඇති බව අනුමාන කළ හැකිය. මහා විහාර දාන ශාලාව අවට ඇති නටඹුන් ගොඩනැගිලි අතර දක්නට ඇති බෙහෙත් ඔරුව , මෙහි දේශීය වෙදකම සහිත රෝහලක්ද තිබු බවට සාධකයකි.

The Mahavihara Alms Hall is a stone building built near Ruwanmalisaya. The Mahavihara Alms Hall was created during the reign of King Devanampiytissa in the 3rd century BC. The remaining stone pillars also show that the Mahavihara Alms house had a roof built on stone pillars. The specialty of the Mahavihara Alms house is the 45 feet long stone boat used to carry cooked rice. The way the smoothed stone slabs are fitted together is also excellent. Small stone boats were used to put curry. According to the hole inside one of the stone boats, it seems that it may have been used for gravy. It may be made of stone to keep it warm for a long time. Smoothed stone blocks are laid on the floor of the Alms house. According to the four doors with Punkalas on both sides, it is clear that the alms of this Alms Hall is prepared for the monks who come from the four directions. Also ,it can be inferred that the feet of the monks have been washed at that place based on the bread pot with Bo leaves on both sides and the footprints and the semi-circular stone slab. The medicine boat found among the ruined buildings around the Mahavihara Alms House is a proof that there was a hospital with local medicine here.
